1,552 Jaguar XK/XF cars to be recalled in China over steering flaws

China's quality control authorities on Friday said Jaguar Cars Ltd., a British luxury car manufacturer, would recall 1,552 XK and XF cars sold on the Chinese mainland due to steering flaws.

The recall, starting June 6, involves 1,550 XF automobiles manufactured between September 2009 and March 2010 and only two XK cars produced between August 2009 and March 2010, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said in a statement on its website.

The antiseptic plating of the steering power oil pipe was below design standards and the pipes might be corroded, resulting in possible steering problems or even over-heating, the statement said.

Jaguar Land Rover Auto Trade (Shanghai) Company Limited will notify consumers that they are entitled to free checks and repairs, said the statement.

A hotline (400-820-8955) is now open for consultations and customers can also call 010-59799616 and 010-65537365 for more information, the AQSIQ said.
