Ford's Hinrichs to keynote Guangzhou plastics forum

When Ford Motor Co. needed a new CEO for its fast-growing Asian operation in 2009, it turned to one of its top experts on manufacturing and logistics, Joe Hinrichs.

Ford's former global manufacturing chief had overseen the operations of 105 assembly, stamping and powertrain plants worldwide. Now, he's in charge of Ford's expansion in China, the world's fastest-growing automotive market.

Hinrichs, a Ford Group vice president and CEO of Ford China, will be the keynote speaker at "China Plastics in Automotive 2011," a May 16 conference organized by Plastics News, a sister publication to Automotive News China.

The 15-speaker, bilingual (English and Mandarin Chinese) program targets executives involved with serving China's domestic vehicle market.

Presenters from Changan Auto, Chery Automobile, Magna International, J.D. Power and Associates, Tata Technologies, the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center, ExxonMobil, DuPont, and Sabic will cover supply-chain management, localized designs for the China market and trends in vehicle interiors and exteriors.

A director from Guangzhou's Bureau of Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation also will explain the impact of Beijing's 12th Five-Year Plan on South China's automotive sector.

The conference will be held at the Westin Guangzhou one day before the opening day of Chinaplas 2011, Asia's largest plastics and rubber trade show. For more details, visit www.pnchina.com/events.
