Recall by 3 Chinese automakers to target 75,000 vehicles with Kumho tires -- report

Three Chinese automakers will recall 75,000 vehicles with defective Kumho tires, reports the Xinhua news service, citing a government agency.

Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., Great Wall Motor Co. and Dongfeng Yueda Kia Automobile Co. will issue recalls, Xinhua said.

The state-owned news agency cited a recall announcement by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, China's top quality watchdog.

The tires to be recalled contain excessive amounts of recycled materials, which could cause the tires to bulge or wear out prematurely.
