Jianghuai ships 7,000 cars to Brazil in first quarter
Jianghuai Automobile Co. shipped 7,000 cars to Brazil in the first quarter of this year, making it China's largest vehicle exporter to the South American country.
Exports include the hatchback and three-box versions of the compact Tojoy.
SHC Group, a major Brazilian auto dealership, will distribute them, according to Jianghuai's Web site.
Jianghuai plans to export 620,000 vehicles to Brazil over the next ten years, according to an agreement it signed with SHC last August.
To date, SHC has received purchase orders for more than 10,000 Tojoys. The Brazilian dealer will distribute the car through a network of 50 stores across the country, according to Jianghuai.
Jianghuai, which is headquartered in the eastern China city of Hefei, sold 200,000 passenger vehicles and 242,000 commercial vehicles last year.
Besides Jianghuai, Chery Automobile Co. also sells passenger vehicles in Brazil. Earlier this month, Chery won the Chinese government's approval for its plan to build a plant in Brazil with an initial output of 50,000 vehicles a year.
