Nissan cuts China production in wake of quake
Nissan Motor Co. will halt production on weekends and holidays at all of its factories in China, spokeswoman Sharon Shen said by telephone.
The carmaker has enough parts in China to ensure production on weekdays until mid-April, Shen said.
In Japan, Nissan is still struggling to reopen its assembly plants. The company told Reuters that its Japanese plants aimed to manufacture vehicles "on a normal process" in mid-April. But some plants are not expected to resume production until late April.
Last year, Dongfeng Motor Co. -- Nissan's 50:50 joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group -- produced 662,057 units, up 27 percent.
