GM tests Chevy Volt ahead of China launch
A Chevrolet Volt completed a trip of 248 km in five and a half hours between Shanghai and the east China city of Hangzhou on March 21.
This was the first long distance drive the Volt has completed in China, GM China said in a statement. The vehicle was driven under various road conditions including broad highways and narrow streets.
GM plans to begin selling the Volt in China by the end of the year.
The Volt runs on electricity from its lithium-ion battery pack. When the battery is nearly depleted, the Volt's gasoline engine provides power to the electric drive unit, according to GM.
