COMAC and Bombardier reach agreement on commercial aircraft

The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) and Bombardier signed a framework agreement in Shanghai on March 24 to establish a long-term strategic cooperation on commercial aircraft. The two parties will complement each other's advantages to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in specific projects.

The products and respective areas of expertise of COMAC and Bombardier have potential complementary nature, on the basis of which the two parties hope to establish a long-term strategic cooperative relationship and explore mutual collaboration in their marketing, customer relationship and customer support strategies so as to increase overall market share in emerging and mature markets.

COMAC Chairman Zhang Qingwei said "COMAC is pleased to work closely with Bombardier to efficiently identify areas of mutual collaboration and explore future endeavors. Both our companies have specific strengths that, when combined, will enhance the competitiveness of our respective aircraft programs and businesses as a whole."

Bombardier also values its cooperation with COMAC. Bombardier President and Chief Executive Officer Pierre Beaudoin said, "This framework agreement will strengthen our relationship and generate positive results for both the C919 and C-series aircraft programs. It also opens the door to further cooperation on any other projects that would be mutually beneficial."
