Owens Corning opens 4th composites plant in China
Owens Corning Corp. has launched production of glass fiber composites at a newly built plant on the outskirts of the eastern China city of Hangzhou.
The plant employs 280 workers and will serve the domestic Chinese market. The facility will produce glass-fiber composites for structural parts and under-the-hood components.
The material is in demand as automakers seek to reduce vehicle weight. The plant also will supply non-automotive customers.
The plant is Owens Corning's fourth Chinese composites factory. The company is headquartered in Toledo, Ohio.
