Lifan starts EV sales in Shanghai
Lifan (Industry) Group Co.'s electric vehicle subsidiary signed a deal to sell its first batch of electric cars to the administration of the Shanghai International Auto City.
The Auto City is an industrial zone for auto companies in suburban Shanghai.
It is the first commercial contract the subsidiary has inked so far for its electric sedan, which is based on the platform of the Lifan 620 compact sedan, Lifan said in a statement.
The EV is powered by a 370V 30kW lithium iron phosphate battery pack and has a range of 200 kilometers. It can reach a top speed of 120 kilometers per hour.
Lifan has not yet disclosed details about projected sales volume or prices. The company will deliver the vehicles later this month.
Last year, Lifan's car was first used as a police vehicle as part of the Shanghai government's EV demonstration program at the World Expo.
Lifan's EV subsidiary, Shanghai CAS Lifan Electric Vehicle Co., is jointly owned by Lifan and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
It can build up to 5,000 EVs a year, according to Lifan.
