Changan targets China sales of 2.5M units in 2011
The Changan Automobile Group expects to sell 2.5 million vehicles this year, up from 2.4 million in 2010, reports the Chinese automotive Web site Gasgoo.com, citing a company report.
Of that total, Changan hopes to sell 1.9 million own-brand vehicles, up from 1.8 million units last year.
Changan Auto, which is based in the southwest China city of Chongqing, is one of China's largest domestic producers of own-brand vehicles.
The state-ownd automaker also maintains a three-way joint venture with Ford Motor Co. and Mazda Motor Corp. And in 2010, Changan formed a joint venture with PSA Peugeot Citroen to produce upscale passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.
