Valeo supplies powertrain for BAIC's EV concept car

Valeo S.A. has supplied a complete electric powertrain system to Beijing Automotive Industry Corp.'s concept electric car, said the French company.

Valeo developed the powertrain with two other global parts suppliers, Leroy Somer of France and GKN plc, which is based in the United Kingdom. The powertrain includes an electric motor, inverter, transmission, charger, a supervisor and a DC/DC converter.

BAIC expects to start production of the electric car in 2011, according to Valeo.
