M4S is currently developing a state-of-the-art, next-generation radio frequency chipset to be used in 4G devices. Option initiated a process in July 2010 to sell M4S to a company that could better leverage the full scope of its radio frequency technology. The sale of M4S to Huawei will enable the M4S technology to avail itself of the vast resources of Huawei's research and distribution capabilities. The acquisition will approximately cost Huawei EUR8 million.

Guo Ping, executive vice president of Huawei and chairman of equipment for Huawei, said that the acquisition of M4S will enable Huawei to provide more innovative mobile broadband equipment, accelerate the commercial development of the 4G services, and support the Digital Agenda program in Europe.
