Geely integrates Volvo's marketing, manufacturing
Zhejiang Geely Automotive Co. has set up a committee to coordinate manufacturing, marketing and product development with Volvo Car Corp., which it purchased from Ford Motor Co. for $1.8 billion.
Geely and Volvo each will assign four executives to a nine-member committee to be chaired by Geely Chairman Li Shufu, a company statement said.
Committee members will meet twice a year to discuss a wide range of issues.
As part of its effort to restore Volvo to long-term profitability, Geely may build two plants and expand a third in China to make Volvo cars, Li said in September.
After Geely took control of Volvo in August, it appointed Stefan Jacoby, a former Volkswagen executive, to run the Swedish automaker.
