VW Group to add 20 import distributorships in China
Volkswagen Group China will add 20 domestic distributors to its network of 50 distributors this year, the Shanghai Daily said.
In the first nine months, VW sold 30,000 imported cars in China, nearly double its sales a year earlier.
Citing VW group marketing director Hu Bo, Shanghai Daily says VW expects to sell 40,000 imported vehicles this year.
Although VW imports are rising, the vast majority of VW models sold in China are also built in China. In the first nine months, VW was China's leading brand with sales of 1.1 million units, up 34 percent from a year earlier.
In that same period, Audi's China sales rose 54 percent to 172,000 units.
