New Great Wall tech center
Construction on Great Wall Motor Co's 5 billion yuan technology center began last week in Baoding, a city in Hebei province near Beijing.
The 250,000 square meter facility is scheduled for completion in two years and have eight sections including design, testing and several R&D departments developing SUVs, pickups and cars.
Local media cited Chairman Wei Jianjun saying that the company will invest another 5 billion yuan in R&D and increase the research staff to more than 10,000 over the next five years.
