Government expects China's auto prices to decline
Auto prices in China will continue to decline for the rest of this year, predicts the National Development and Reform Commission, the government's central economic planning agency.
In September, passenger vehicle prices dropped 0.1 percent from August. Compared with a year earlier, prices dropped 2.6 percent, the commission said in a statement.
Price trends for commercial vehicles were not as clear. Prices of imported and domestically produced commercial vehicles rose 3.0 percent in September compared with the year-ago period.
But commercial vehicle prices declined 0.3 percent in September compared with August.
"Going forward, auto prices will extend the downward trend," predicted the commission, which monitors auto prices in 36 large and medium-sized Chinese cities.
