The concurrently held NEPCON South China exhibition, one of the largest and oldest trade events for SMT in South China, highlighted the entire electronics manufacturing industry chain and showcased the latest concepts and trends in electronics manufacturing. The three-day event attracted 24,241 visitors. Notably, this figure includes delegations from renowned companies like Foxconn, BYD, Sizhing Electronics, Huizhou Desay SV Automotive and JDI Electronics.

Currently electronics manufacturing is focused on advanced electronics assembly and packaging equipment, as well as consumables. These were all on full display at ATE China 2010, as were assembly system materials, tools and vision systems, as well as electronics packaging tools and materials. The entire electronics assembly process and packaging of home appliances, computers, LED equipment, communication equipment, medical electronics and automotive electronics also was showcased, providing an ideal platform for electronics manufacturing companies to procure technological solutions for their assembly production demands. It was a great chance to source new suppliers and enhance competitiveness. After visiting the show, several electronics manufacturers stated that this event had given them greater insight into how to cut labor costs and enhance efficiency during production. Hong Shaomin, Supervisor of BYD's 3rd Business Group, said, "I am pleased to see so many automation products and technologies related to daily production. This is really helpful in improving productivity along the entire production line. Huang Mingyuan of Chi Mei Optoelectronics added, "We mainly came to these two shows to look for suppliers of automation assembly equipment. We fully met our objective here."?

Machine vision was one of the most popular segments onsite. Optirom, OGP, Microscan, Dongguan Sumeida Automation, Dongguan OPT, Shenzhen Sunshine Vision, Shenzhen Servo Dynamics and Shanghai Botrong Electric all showcased the latest products and technologies in machine vision to captivated visitors. Zhang Pingliang, General Manager of Dongguan Sumeida Automation, a frontrunner in the field of machine vision, said, "South China is a very important electronics manufacturing market. For that reason, we exhibited machine vision, horizontal articulated robots, linear robots, desktop welding robots and related technologies. They all attracted much attention from the visitors. The results we got from exhibiting were even better than we expected. ATE China is a great way to raise the profile of a business, promote state-of-the-art products and meet customers? -? old and new."??

Emerging products, including electronics packaging materials, power & pneumatic tools, and ESD products already in widespread use, were exhibited at the event. Guo Yan, Deputy GM of Kilews, said, "We are pleased to have been part of ATE China 2010. We chose this event to unveil state-of-the-art manufacturing products and technologies. We also came face-to-face with numerous potential buyers, and, in so doing, boosted Kilews' market share."

Yan Yueyong, General Manager of Shenzhen Fukucima, said, "Improving productivity and lowering labor costs are common focuses across the entire electronics manufacturing industry. At this show, we introduced a series of fully automated products, among them were soldering machines. They each generated great feedback and attention from the visitors. ATE China was a great trade platform for the Chinese electronics assembly and packaging industry."
