HTC's Wildfire Phone to Fuel Overall Shipments
With its newest HTC Wildfire to be launched in a couple of countries soon, Taiwan-based High Tech Computer Corp. (HTC)., a world-caliber vendor of smartphones, foresees the middle-end smartphone to sharply boost its overall shipment starting this year, according to HTC's Asia-Pacific region vice president Jack Tong.
HTC has just joined hands with Taiwan Mobile Corp., one of Taiwan's big three telecom service providers, and Synnex Technology International Corp., the largest distributor for ICT products in Grater China, to promote the HTC Wildfire, and is also going to partner with more foreign telecom companies to promote the smartphone model in Asian-Pacific countries.
Tong said that the newest handset is launched to explore the segment for middle-end smartphones, as middle-end models mainly priced at a range from NT$10,000 to NT$15,000 per unit will serve as a major growth drive for the overall market for smartphones in the future.
He indicated that his brand has progressed considerably in exploring new markets, like Australia and Korea, in the first half of this year. This has helped HTC to enhance its determination to distribute its Wirefire in numerous Asian-Pacific countries and regions, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, India, New Zealand and Australia, this year.
Witnessing HTC's banner sales of own-brand smartphones worldwide, institutional investors optimistically project the brand's sales for the third quarter of this year to further move up from the second quarter.
