Great Wall gets 4 Star crash test results in Australia for its SUV
Great Wall Motor Co. has received the 4 Star crash test rating for its Hover SUV from the Australiasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), a program supported by automobile clubs as well as government transport authorities in Australia and New Zealand.
The top crash test rating ANCAP gives for a motor vehicle is five stars.
Australia is the newest overseas market that privately-owned Great Wall has made its way into.
In November 2009, the company started selling the Hover SUV in Australia where it also sells its Wingle and Sailor pickups.
At present, monthly sales of the Hover SUV in Australia are about 300 units.
Besides Australia, Great Wall sells its Hover SUV in Italy.
In September 2009, Great Wall certified four of its models for the European Union; the Florid and Coolbear sedans, the Hover 5 SUV and the Wingle pickup. To date the company is the only domestic Chinese automaker to have cleared all the regulatory hurdles needed to get its vehicles into the single European market.
Back on the domestic Chinese market, Great Wall sold 30,463 units of Hover in the first quarter of this year, making the model the top selling SUV in China, according to information the company has released.
