Chery develops its own gasoline engine direct injection technology
Chery Automobile Co. announced it has developed its own gasoline engine direct injection and three other systems that are key to automotive manufacturing.
The other three systems are six-speed automatic transmissions, LED head lamps and electronic stability control systems, the company said in a statement.
All four have passed an appraisal by a panel of experts recently convened by the state government.
Chery said it has received 300 million yuan ($43.9 million) in subsidies in the development of the four technologically advanced systems.
The technology breakthrough shows domestic brands have broken the monopolies that foreign companies have established on key automotive technologies, the company said in the statement.
"It also shows our company has transited from 'reverse engineering' which is mainly about dissection and copying to ‘normal development," it added.
