Top Chinese TV maker TCL foreign sales surge in March
China's top TV maker, TCL Corp, said Monday (April 12) its March overseas sales of LCD TVs more than doubled in Europe and more than tripled in emerging markets.
The home-appliance maker said it sold 112.6 percent and 244.9 percent more LCD TVs in Europe and emerging markets, respectively, than in the same period in 2009.
The growth rates for the two markets from January to March were 147.3 percent and 352.1 percent, respectively, while sales in China grew by 56.2 percent.
The company sold 401,3000 units of LCD TVs in March, up 10.93 percent from the same period last year, bringing first quarter sales to 1.93 million units, up 60.77 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, the company's sales of mobile phones and air-conditioners also surged, doubling from the previous period, the company said.
