New energy vehicles sold to individual consumers for first time
After years of waiting, China's individual consumers now have an opportunity to own eco-friendly electric vehicles. BYD Auto's F3DM low-carbon dual-mode electric vehicle with the world's first built-in solar recharger began sales to the general public at a unit price of 169,800 yuan on March 30.
As the world's first electric vehicle which can operate without charging stations, the BYD F3DM was sold to government agencies and corporations at the end of 2008.
It is believed that conditions are perfect to begin sales of electric vehicles to individual consumers now that the construction of electric vehicle charging stations and charging poles are now underway nationwide. BYD's practices show that China is now speeding up promotion of new energy vehicles.
