Zhejiang province to establish electric car charging poles
Zhejiang Electric Power Corporation will start the "2010 Electric Car Charging Infrastructure Construction" plan in order to establish 500 charging poles in the province. These poles will provide charging services for electric cars, buses and other hybrid electric vehicles in the future.
It will cost 30,000 yuan to install a charging pole that roughly covers a small area the size of a drinking fountain. There is a charging plug on each pole and residents can charge their cars only by linking the plug with the socket on the car. The only disadvantage is that people must wait for a period of time while charging. A fully-charged car will cost between 10 to 20 yuan and can run between 150 and 200 kilometers, far cheaper than refueling with gasoline. About two and a half hours are needed to charge the car's battery capacity to 80 percent while more than three hours are needed for maximum charge.
