Intel Dalian chip plant to go online this year
Intel Corporation recently announced that its chip plant in Dalian will be put into operation during the fourth quarter of this year.
The Dalian plant is Intel's first chip fabrication factory in Asia. It began construction on March 26, 2007 with a total investment of 2.5 billion U.S. dollars.
Kirby Jefferson, general manager of Intel Dalian said that after the chip plant is put into operation, it will not only make 65 nanometer chips but also prepare to upgrade to higher-level products. As the biggest semi-conductor chip manufacturer in the world, Intel entered China in 1985 and has invested more than 4.7 billion U.S. dollars over the past 25 years.
