Lanzhou to set up largest oil product stockpile base in western China
The base will enable Lanzhou to become the largest oil product stockpile base in China's western regions.
An oil product stockpile base with a total storage capacity of 190,000 cum will be ready to start operations in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province, by the end of this year, the operator PetroChina said on Tuesday.
The construction blueprints for the project were completed in May and were officially approved recently. The base will enable Lanzhou to become the largest oil product stockpile base in China's western regions.
On Monday, PetroChina said that its crude and oil product pipelines crossing the Xinjiang Autonomous Region into Gansu Province would also start partial operation at the end of the year.
The 4,000-km project will include one crude pipeline, one finished oil product pipeline and seven branch pipelines, helping to establish a complete network for oil transmission from Xinjiang's capital, Urumqi,to Lanzhou.
The oil product pipeline will be completed by the end of this year and the crude pipeline is expected to become operational next August. Both pipelines have a designed annual transportation capacity of 10 mln tons, an official from the project operator, the China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau, told Interfax on Monday.
