The initial phase of the Zibo facility began production at the end of August 2009 and achieved 100% utilization in January 2010. ShengdaTech's current aggregate annual capacity of 250,000 MT is operating at full capacity thanks to the strong demand for the company range of NPCC products.

ShengdaTech's 58-acre Zibo facility,has a total designed annual production capacity of 240,000 MT, which will be built in several phases. The production building currently housing Phase I provides extra space that can hold an additional 40,000 MT of capacity. The remaining 40,000 MT of capacity can be brought online with the purchase and installation of additional equipment.

ShengdaTech manufactures, markets and sells nano-precipitated calcium carbonate products which it converts from limestone using proprietary and patent-protected technology. ShengdaTech says that it is the only company possessing proprietary NPCC technology in China. In addition to broad customer base in China, the company currently exports to Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, India, and Israel.

NPCC, is used as a filler product in tires and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to increase strength and lower manufacturing costs. Additional applications for NPCC exist in paints, paper, rubber, latex, plastics. and polyethylene and polypropylene products.
