Volvo's labor union officials and management executives visit Geely
A team of delegates from Volvo Car visited Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. last week to ensure that Geely can protect the Swedish car brand as well as the interests of its workers after it acquires Volvo, said a source familiar with the situation.
The team comprised two groups of people from Volvo -- officials of the labor union and senior executives in charge of human resources, production, quality and customer relations, the source said.
The delegates visited Geely's plants in Zhejiang and checked its equipment, manufacturing processes, plant management, r&d capabilities and even the work of Geely's own workers' union.
They also held a meeting with Geely's top management, he added.
Geely is now on track to take over the Volvo Car unit from Ford Motor Co. In December both Geely and Ford said they expected to close the deal in the second quarter of 2010.
