Ford cancels China recall of van with CTS pedal
Ford Motor Corp. and its joint venture Jiangling Motors Corp. (JMC) have cancelled the recall of Ford Transit vans made in China that include pedals made by CTS Corp.
In North America, CTS makes the gas pedals that have caused Toyota Motor Corporation to halt production there and recall thousands of vehicles.
"Our precautionary review has determined that the pedal assembly part sourced from CTS Automotive is not affected by the recent recall of other auto manufacturers." says York Chen a spokesperson for Ford in China.
The pedals supplied to JMC for use in Ford Transit vans are different in that they are made in China.
"Based on our finding we have resumed production and there is no plan for recall." he adds.
In 2009 a total 32,577 Transit vans were sold in China, up 22 percent from a year earlier, according to data from Automotive Resources Asia, a division of J.D.Power.
In China, CTS has plants in Guangdong and Tianjin as well as a sales office in Shanghai.
