Quanta Computer Inc., the world's largest notebook PC manufacturer, scored sales revenue of NT$91.2 billion (US$2.94 billion at US$1: NT$31) in December of 2009, and NT$791.8 billion (US$25.54 billion) for the entire year. Also, the firm shipped 35.9 million notebook PCs in the year, including 3.7 million units in December.

Coincidentally, Compal Electronics Inc., the No. 2 in the industry, raked in sales revenue of NT$636.81 billion (US$20.54 billion) in 2009, up 49% from a year ealier and including NT$71.37 billion (US$2.30 billion) in December. More notable is that the firm shipped 37.9 million notebook PCs in the year, unseating Quanta as No. 1 in terms of shipment volume, and its fourth-quarter revenue hit a single-quarter high of NT$224.7 billion (US$7.24 billion), growing 28% from the third quarter of 2009.

Also, Wistron Corp., the third-largest in the line, enjoyed a 22.8% annual growth in sales revenue of NT$445.17 billion (US$14.36 billion) in 2009, and posted shipments of 25.75 notebook PCs and some 150,000 LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs, growing 11% and 40% from 2008, respectively.

Inventec Corp., the world's No. 4 notebook PC supplier, raked in sales revenue of NT$36.598 billion (US$1.18 billion) in December and NT$398.13 billion (US$12.84 billion) in 2009, up 13.6% from a year earlier. With global economy recovering, the firm is expected to challenge annual revenue of NT$450 billion (US$14.51 billion) for 2010, according to institutional investors.
