Samsung to set up global R&D center in China
China is the manufacturing center, what's more, it will step into R&D center someday too.
Samsung Co. Ltd. of the Republic of Korea has announced that it aims to build in China its global research and development (R&D) center.
A senior Samsung official made the remarks here at a just concluded meeting on Samsung's R&D strategy in China.
Samsung has so far set up four research institutions in Beijing, Suzhou, Nanjing and Shanghai, employing over 2,000 staff.
By the end of 2004, Samsung had invested a total of 4 billion US dollars in China. Its business turnover in China stood at 24 billion US dollars in 2004, accounting for 22 percent of Samsung's total overseas businesses.
