Geely partners with Taiwanese company to sell its Panda small car
Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. has teamed up with Taiwanese automaker Yulon Motor Co. to assemble and modify its Panda small car in Taiwan for the local and Southeast Asian markets.
Under a framework agreement the two sides signed last month, Yulon will assemble the Panda in Taiwan from semi-knockdown kits supplied by Geely, Zhang Xiaodong, a manager at Geely's public relations department told Automotive News China.
The car will be sold under a new brand, TOBE, in Taiwan as well as Southeast Asia countries, Zhang said.
The TOBE will have both a gasoline model tobe M'car and an electric version known as tobe M'car EV [pictured], Yulon said in a statement.
The 1.3-liter gasoline-powered Panda now sells for around 50,000 yuan ($7,320) in mainland China. The tobe M'car will be priced at 400,000 Taiwan new dollars ($12,390) in Taiwan, according to Yulon.
