China Tengzhong says talking to regulators on Hummer
China's Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery said on Monday it was talking with regulators following its agreement to purchase General Motors Co's Hummer business.
A Tengzhong spokeswoman added that the deal could be closed by the end of this year or early next year, but she gave no specific timetable for submitting an application to the Chinese government.
Tengzhong, a little known machinery maker based in southwest China, signed a deal with GM late last week to buy the U.S. automaker's Hummer SUV business.
A Ministry of Commerce official said the ministry, which must approve the deal, had not yet received an application from Tongzheng for approval of the purchase.
