China's auto enterprise acquires WVTA of EU for the first time

Great Wall Motor, a large auto exporter of China, declared on September 10 that four vehicle types of the company, the "Xuanli", "Kuxiong", "Hafu 5" and "Fengjun 5" have successively acquired the WVTA of European Union.

Fu Peizhao, Deputy Secretary-General of the Auto Branch of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, frankly said that as one of the most developed markets, the European auto market has strict laws and technical requirements, which have frustrated many Chinese auto enterprises. "Although some enterprises have made certain efforts, but there are no notable effects."

It took one year for the Great Wall Motor to apply for the WVTA. The VCA of the UK was responsible for handling the application, and the certification process was complicated and strict. The EU WVTA has a series of strict inspections, including checking up product consistency guarantee capacity, the quality control system and the ELV. This constitutes a comprehensive inspection of the enterprise’s production capacity and product management system.

"Although a few vehicle types of China's independent brands have acquired the WVTA before, but they were sold with restrictions," said Li Junyong, officer of the Overseas Certification Department under Great Wall Motor.

The four vehicle types of Great Wall Motor that acquired the EU WVTA this time are all the main types of the brand, and the overseas sales volume of the four types accounts for over 30 percent of the total export volume of the company. The main target countries include Algeria, Italy, Australia, Chile, South Africa and Syria.
