China's electric trains to enter Brazilian market
Recently in Beijing, CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles Company signed a Central 120 km/h EMUs project supply agreement with the state transport bureau of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
This marks the first time that electric trains made by China CNR Corporation Limited (CNR) have successfully entered the South American market.
The agreement involves 30 trains with a maximum running speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The trains will be powered by a 3,000-volt pantograph power supply system, and be applicable to 1,600-millimeter track gauge. The train body has a lightweight austenitic stainless-steel monocoque structure, and its structural integrity is capable of lasting 40 years.
With respect to appearance and interior decoration, the multiple unit trains will harmoniously merge with the local environment in Rio de Janeiro, creating a unique brand image of multiple unit trains in the city.
