China's rail transit equipment going global
China has the world's largest urban rail transit construction market with a value of over one trillion yuan. By accelerating domestic rail transit equipment production, China has become one of the largest rail transit equipment suppliers in the world.
"The first stainless-steel double-deck test passenger train designed and manufactured for Sydney's railway, has been loaded at Dalian Port and is being transported to Sydney," China CNR Corporation Limited staff told reporters on July 7. Under the contract, China CNR Corporation Limited will supply Australia with 626 world-class stainless-steel double-deck passenger trains. This is the first time using CNR's advanced and sophisticated technologies and products that China has entered the rail transit equipment market of a developed country.
Latest statistics show that between now and 2015, 19 large cities in China will construct 70 urban rail transit lines, with a total length of 2,100 kilometers. Total investment will reach 800 billion yuan. However, if urban rail transit lines waiting for approval are accounted, total investment will reach over one trillion yuan. With this surge in investment, annual demand for urban rail transit trains will continue to exceed 3,000 units for many years. China has become the world's largest urban rail transit construction market.
