China's first third-generation nuclear power equipment factory gains international recognition
On June 2, 2009, Shandong Nuclear Power Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. received ASME nuclear grade certification from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). This proves that the design and manufacture of nuclear products by the company have gained the recognition of an internationally-authoritative organization.
The company was established in July, 2007, and is a member enterprise of the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation. It is also the first factory in the world that can manufacture third-generation nuclear power AP1000 specialized equipment. It has the task of independently manufacturing steel safety shells (CV) and modules for the four nuclear power units that belong to China's third-generation nuclear power Self-Reliance Program Supporting Project. Steel safety shells are an important piece of equipment in the passive safety system uniquely possessed by the third-generation nuclear power AP 1000 plant.
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is an internationally-authoritative academic organization. ASME standards issued by this organization are authoritative global standards for nuclear power and pressure vessel product manufacturing. The authority of ASME certification has given the factory global recognition.
