SGMW recalls 4,768 defective sedans for gas leakage
China's Shanghai General Motors Wuling (SGMW) will recall 4,768 sedans to repair faulty gas pipes starting May 16.
China's Shanghai General Motors Wuling (SGMW) will recall 4,768 sedans to repair faulty gas pipes starting May 16, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ) said.
Chevrolet Spark sedans manufactured between March 3, 2009 and April 17, 2009 will be recalled, the product quality watchdog said.
The gas rail joint can become disconnected with the gas pipe resulting in leakage while driving.
In a report submitted to the GAQSIQ, SGMW promised to repair all defective vehicles and eliminate risks.
The company said its franchised outlets will notify customers of the recall through mail or phone calls. Defective parts will be replaced free of charge.
Established November 18, 2002, SGMW is a three-shareholder joint venture, with capital from SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, Liuzhou Wuling Motors Co Limited and GM China.
