SAIC to show new energy cars at auto show
Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. will debut a pure electric version of the Roewe 750 at the 2009 Shanghai auto show.
Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. will debut a pure electric version of the Roewe 750 at the 2009 Shanghai auto show, said Chen Hong. The chairman of SAIC was speaking at a forum on electric vehicle development in Beijing last Friday.
The company has also announced it will show a hybrid based on the Roewe 750 platform, which it says will make fuel savings of 20 percent and go on sale in late 2010.
Chen says SAIC's strategy for new energy vehicles is focusing on both the development of hybrids and electric vehicles.
In addition to its pure electric and hybrid Roewe model, SAIC will also display two concept cars under the Roewe and MG brands.
"The two models will represent the future of SAIC's own brands," the company said in an announcement.
