Nokia, the world's largest brand of handsets and mobile technologies, unveiled its newest home control center at the Nokia World 2008 that is a solution based on the Linux platform for controlling digital home devices and manufactured by Taiwan's Lite-On Technology Corp.

Since acquiring a Finland-based handset plastic housing maker Perlos, with Nokia among its clients, last year, Lite-On has successfully joined Nokia's supply chain, and, above all, the acquisition helped the firm to win the leading handset brand's order for the Nokia Home Control Center that is scheduled for promotion Europe in the fourth quarter of next year.

Nokia, in addition to the home control center, also debuted two mobile service applications, Maps and Mail, based its Ovi platform at Nokia World 2008.

Nokia has been endeavoring to diversify its business into digital home applications and debut of Nokia Home Control Center will be the brand's first step into the segment. The brand, as leading developer of mobile services, shrewdly applies mobile phones in home control center solutions, allowing users to remotely control household electronics, locksets, cameras and thermometers with mobile phones for more convenient, secure and smarter life.

The home control center is built with network and USB ports and supports SD (secure digital) memory cards and wireless transmission via WiFi and Bluetooth technology. The product is expected to contribute considerably to Lite-On's sales performance in the future, as well as gaining popularity in the consumer market.
