The Guangdong 3G Industry Development Alliance has been formally licensed and set up in an effort to promote the rapid development of 3G in the province.
Initiated by 13 companies, including TCL, Guangdong Provincial Information Association, ZTE and Huawei, the other purpose of this industry alliance is to diminish excessive competition among the participants.
China's TD-SCDMA, also known as 3G, is currently being tested and rolled-out in many areas of the nation. A TD-SCDMA trial network has been set up in cities like Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Qingdao, Qinhuangdao, Shenyang, Xiamen, Baoding, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and this has presented a big market potential for the companies hoping to sell handsets and services.
Covering almost all the sectors of mobile operators, equipment manufacturers and multimedia content suppliers, the alliance has been set up based on the principles of free will, equality and cooperation.
