China's shipbuilding companies win increasing global orders
China's shipbuilding companies win increasing global orders with delivery time being extended to 2028 thanks to green development advantage, CCTV reported on Friday.
The new model of "intelligent and green" shipbuilding is helping China's shipbuilding industry move towards high-quality development.
The world's number one container liner company is one of the company's clients and about 80 percent of the company's orders are from overseas, said Li Hao, director of international operation department of Guangzhou Shipyard International Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Co Ltd.
More than 60 percent of the company's existing orders are high-tech, high value-added methanol dual fuel or LNG dual fuel new green ship types, which can reduce emissions of carbon, nitrogen oxides and sulfur thus greatly reducing environmental pollution, the report said.
Three major indicators of China's shipbuilding industry achieved comprehensive growth in 2023. These indicators include shipbuilding completion, new orders and existing orders, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Statistics indicate that from January to November 2023, China's shipbuilding industry completed 38.09 million deadweight tons, up 12.3 percent year-on-year and received new orders of 68.45 million DWT, up 63.8 percent year-on-year. As of the end of November, China had existing orders of 134.09 million DWT, an increase of 29.4 percent on a yearly basis.
