Cutting-edge tech enhances Huzhou power grid

To help the power grid cope with the peak load over winter, staff from the State Grid Huzhou Power Supply Company can now issue remote control commands through a master station to adjust the operating mode of a flexible AC controllable and interconnected device located in Wusi village, Huzhou, Zhejiang province.

That capability helps achieve load mutual assistance between two distribution grids, as the flexible AC controllable and interconnected device uses power semiconductor devices to adjust the amplitude and phase of the output voltage, based on power usage. It can also precisely control power flow and realize a "zero-impact closing ring" of the distribution grid, which stabilizes the power balance among different regions.

Thanks to this mode, when there is a shortage of electricity during the winter at Mogan Mountain homestays, power can be transferred from the urban area.

In recent years, State Grid Huzhou Power Supply Company has been actively exploring new models for rural power supply services. Through the construction of rural power supply stations, the company has created a "45-minute quick response circle" in rural areas and promoted the same-speed response of urban and rural power supply services.

Leveraging the innovated application of power technology, State Grid Huzhou Power Supply Company is dedicated to promoting full coverage of its distribution network automation terminals and new technologies such as intelligent switch fiber optic remote control, fast closing and interruption FA function, and quantum encryption. By utilizing new technologies and equipment such as drone inspection and laser debris removal, it is making power grid operation and maintenance safer and more efficient.

During the peak load season in winter, the company will continue to promote low-carbon development of energy to ensure the power supply, and will fully utilize technologies such as digital twin, 5G+quantum, drone inspection, online monitoring, and robotic automation to guarantee safe and efficient operation of the Huzhou grid.
