Nissan-Dongfeng venture targets 10% sales growth this year
Dongfeng Motor Co., a 50-50 joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Group and Nissan Motor Co., seeks to boost its sales 10 percent to 1.71 million vehicles in 2019.
The target was announced at a meeting of Dongfeng Motor’s senior executives last week in the central China city of Wuhan, Dongfeng Group said.
Dongfeng Motor, headquartered in Wuhan, produces light vehicles for the Nissan and Infiniti brands, Dongfeng Group’s Aeolus marque and its proprietary Venucia brand.
In 2018, the company’s deliveries rose 3.9 percent year on year to approach 1.55 million on volumes generated by its Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Co. subsidiary.
Last year, sales of Dongfeng Nissan, which assembles sedans, crossovers and SUVs for the Nissan brand, gained 4.4 percent to nearly 1.16 million. Deliveries of Dongfeng Infiniti -- Dongfeng Motor’s subsidiary that builds Infiniti’s QX5 crossover and elongated Q5 sedan -- increased 4 percent to 28,868, according to Dongfeng Group.
