VW brand deliveries fall for 5th straight month
Volkswagen’s China deliveries dropped 9.8 percent to 274,100 in October, marking the fifth consecutive month the German brand’s sales slid year over year.
The brand attributes the prolonged sales slump to ongoing trade disputes between China and the United States. “This was mainly due to uncertainty on the part of customers in China as a result of the continuing trade dispute with the USA,” it said.
Through October, the VW brand’s China sales edged up 0.4 percent to 2,515,400.
Audi sales, benefiting from a cut in China’s tariffs on imported vehicles, increased 5.4 percent from a year earlier to 56,449 vehicles.
Beijing cut tariffs on vehicle imports in July to 15 percent from 25 percent.
The VW Group has not disclosed sales of its other brands in China for October.
