Geely launches 2nd Lynk & CO crossover
Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. launched sales of the 02 compact crossover, the second product under the company’s premium Lynk & CO brand.
The Lynk & CO 02 is priced at 240,000-270,000 yuan ($36,254-40,785).
It offers two engine choices -- a 1.5-liter or a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine -- and three transmission options: a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, a six-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission.
The vehicle is 4,448 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,528 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,702 mm.
It is 64 mm shorter, 122 mm lower, but 33 mm wider than Lynk & CO’s first product, the 01 compact crossover. Its wheelbase is 32 shorter than the 01.
Like the 01, the 02 shares a compact modular architecture with the Volvo XC40 compact crossover. The 01 and 02 are both produced at Geely’s assembly plant in Zhangjiakou in north China’s Hebei province.
Lynk & Co has sold 34,017 01s since the car went on sale in November 2017, with May volume totaling 9,234 vehicles in May after arriving on the Chinese market in November 2017. As of May, a total of 34,017 01s were delivered in China.
Geely also plans to sell the 01 in Europe in 2019. The vehicle will be produced at Volvo's factory in Ghent, Belgium, on the same line as the Volvo XC40.
Lynk & CO was unveiled in late 2016 as Geely’s premium brand.
In 2017, Volvo, which was acquired by Geely in 2010, was granted a 30 percent stake in Lynk & CO. In return, Lynk & CO will gain access to Volvo’s newest modular platform -- dubbed Scalable Product Architecture -- for midsize and large vehicles.
