New order placed for MA60 artificial rain-making aircraft
Two more MA60 artificial rain-making aircraft have been ordered by the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences for firefighting and precipitation purposes in China's arid northwestern regions, according to its manufacturer AVIC XAC Commercial Aircraft Co. Ltd on Friday.
MA60 artificial rain-making aircraft, equipped with cloud particle detection system, can achieve artificial precipitation, prevent hail, eliminate cloud and remove fog.
The aircraft played an important role in putting out a fire earlier this month in a national nature reserve in the Dahinggan Mountains in Northeast China.
The first two MA60 artificial rain-making aircraft for weather modification were delivered to China Meteorological Administration in September 2015.
