Geely's explosive sales, powered by crossovers, roll on

Sales at Geely Automobile Holdings, the largest domestic Chinese passenger vehicle maker, continue to forge ahead on strong crossover volume.

The company’s May deliveries in China surged 61 percent year on year to 123,068 vehicles.

Sales of Geely-badged crossovers totaled 62,473 vehicles during the month.

Lynk & CO, a premium brand Geely Auto unveiled last year, delivered 9,234 01 compact crossovers, its only model.

Combined sales of crossovers under the Geely and Lynk & CO brands totaled 71,707, accounting for 58.3 percent of Geely Auto’s May deliveries.

In the first five months, Geely Auto delivered 638,181 vehicles, a jump of nearly 44 percent from the same period last year.

On May 28, Geely Auto launched sales of a new flagship sedan that features powertrain technologies the company developed with Volvo Car Corp.

The compact car, the Borui GE, offers two powertrains: a plug-in hybrid and a gasoline model fitted with a 48-Volt system.

Geely Auto, based in the east China city of Hangzhou and listed in Hong Kong, is a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. Geely Holding also owns Volvo Car.
