Grupo Antolin launches Chengdu plant to supply door panels for Volvo

Spanish supplier Grupo Antolin started production at a factory in the southwest China city of Chengdu to produce door panels for Volvo Car Corp.

The 50 million yuan ($7.8 million) plant is a 60-40 joint venture between Grupo Antolin and its Chinese peer Changshu Automotive Trim Co.

The Swedish carmaker is also constructing an assembly plant for the high-performance electric vehicle brand Polestar with its corporate parent Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. The Polestar factory is set to start output in mid-2019.

Opening the new plant in Chengdu is part of Grupo Antolin’s efforts to expand China production. In January, it signed an agreement with Chinese supplier Wuhan Donghuan Auto Cab System Co. to jointly produce automotive window regulators.

Grupo Antolin now has 13 production plants in China.
