Bridgestone set to benefit from growth in China

Bridgestone Corporation is hoping to maintain a 30% growth in sales in China this year, as the country's automotive market continues to burgeon

"Chinese sales were up more than 30% in 2005, and we expect the same increase this year," Hiromichi Odagiri, chief executive for Bridgestone China told Shanghai Daily. "We have run quite well in the first half."

According to trade press reports, Bridgestone currently holds a 12% market share in China, which represents about 5% of the company's global sales.
