Great Wall confirms talks with BMW about Mini production

Great Wall Motor Co. has confirmed that it is holding talks with BMW to form a joint venture to build cars for Mini.

The two companies have not yet agreed on any new ventures, according to Reuters. Great Wall commented on the negotiations Friday in a stock exchange filing.

On Thursday, Bloomberg reported that two automakers were looking to build Minis in China.

In a separate statement, BMW said it aimed to expand business in China and could imagine partnership and cooperation for the Mini brand.
